The Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) is the oldest university of agriculture and forestry in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1919. MENDELU consists of five faculties and one university institute: Faculty of Agronomy, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Faculty of Business and Administration, Faculty of Horticulture, Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, and the Institute of Lifelong Education. Carrying out research and science in general are undetachable sections of MENDELU. The scope and diversification of research activities is reflected in the factual focus of the research projects: they cover various spheres from agricultural factors, forestry factors, horticultural and timber production / soil, water, and other animate and inanimate inputs /, relations of productive and non-productive functions of agriculture and forestry, environment, processing and evaluation of primary production, organization and management of processes related to ensuring relevant activities throughout the entire food chain, and an economic evaluation of their effectiveness to the impact of these activities in a broader economic context and emphasis on rural areas. The workplace of a project applicant is an institution, which is involved in the research of trees physiology at a very high level. Top experts and researchers who are focused on ecology and ecophysiology of woody species work here. The applicant workplace provides intensive teaching of students of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes.
Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute
Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute is one of the most prominent Norwegian scientific institutions regarding the utilization of forest resources, forest ecology and environment. The headquarters is located in the city of As and has 220 employees in total including offices in Bergen, Steinkjer and Tromso. The Institute provides information about the forest, soil and landscape to a business sector and the general public in order to contribute to the sustainable management and development of natural resources under the influence of a changing climate. Research is carried out here as well as a significant number of national research programmes, such as mapping of the soil cover, forestry, agriculture, landscape and environment. The Institute cooperates closely with real practice, helps to develop new and efficient technologies. The Institute actively cooperates with foreign institutions and actively promotes exchanges of scientists and students at internships, cooperation at research projects and organizing workshops. The expected activity of the project partner will embrace a cooperation in teaching of target groups, particularly their rich experience in terms of the study of a climate change will be employed. MENDELU cooperation with Norwegian partners is long-term, these entities have dealt with sub-science projects, including one project of Norwegian funds (Monitoring of vitality of forest ecosystems exposed to water stress for ensuring a sustainable economy in the process of a climate change – 2009 – 2010). The cooperation between these organizations evinces a long-term character – lectures, seminars, project cooperation.
Foundation Partnerství
The activity of the project partner lies in setting educational learning objects in the field of an ecological construction. Furthermore, in activities leading to the implementation of training and teaching of different groups of our population (elementary schools, secondary schools, universities, expert public) in ecological construction under the influence of a climate change and also the study of trees response to a climate change.
